Once you complete the following steps, you have an additional printer that you will be able to select that has custom settings that you apply.
Instructions:
- Open Windows menu and click on Settings
2. A new window will open up. Click on the hamburger menu (three lines) at the top left and then click on Bluetooth & devices.
3. Click on Printers & scanners.
4. Find the printer that you are wanting to duplicate and click on it.
5. Click on Printer properties.
6. A new window will open. In that window, click on the Port tab and locate you printer's Port. It should already be selected.
7. Click on the Advanced tab and take note of the Driver name.
8. Go back to the Printer & scanners window and click on Add device.
9. Once you click the button it will start pulling a list of printers. Once it is finished, click on Add manually.
10. A new window will open. Click on the Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings radio button and then click Next.
11. The radio button for Use an existing port should be selected. Click on the drop down next to and select the printer port from the printer you are wanting to duplicate. Then click Next.
12. Then select the manufacturer of the printer and select the drive you took note of earlier. Then click Next.
13. The next screen should have the radio button for Use the driver that is currently installed (recommended), if not, then click it. Then click Next.
14. On the following screen, you can name the printer whatever you would like. Suggestion: Name it in some way that would identify the custom setting that you are wanting or the specific function this will provide.
15. The select the Do not share this printer radio button and click Next.
16. On the last screen, you can choose to make this new printer your default. After doing so, click Next.
Outcome:
You will now see the new printer as a selectable option. From here you will be able to set you options and preferences specific to this printer.
